Shrek 2 Remastered Gets a November Release Date with a GTA 6-Style Trailer

Ogres have layers, and so does this trailer.

Many studios have postponed their releases because of the looming launch of Rockstar's GTA 6, but Aspyr Media has chosen the opposite strategy. At the ID@Xbox showcase, the company announced Shrek 2 Remastered, launching on November 10, and presented it with a trailer oddly reminiscent of a famous upcoming blockbuster we all know.

The trailer draws on the Grand Theft Auto 6 preview videos, from the glowing outline title reveal to Rockstar's overall cinematic style, and it even recreates the series' iconic grid-based design:

Aspyr Media's newly revealed adventure featuring the green ogre and his goofy sidekick Donkey is a remaster of the 2004 action-adventure Shrek 2 from Luxoflux and Activision, based on DreamWorks Animation's eponymous film. The 2026 action-adventure takes players through legendary, nostalgic locations, from Shrek's swamp to Fiona's castle and the fairytale kingdom of Far Far Away, with hidden Easter eggs that make the adventure immersive and fresh.

The remaster also allows players to swap heroes, including Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey, and features boss battles and environmental puzzles. It supports solo and co-op modes, including up to 4-player couch co-op, online multiplayer, and mixed online/couch co-op. The graphics were revamped with better textures, an enhanced UI, 4K resolution, and cutscenes. Other additions include a Photo Mode and a Cheats Menu, where players can unlock new ways to circumvent the game's rules.
