GTA 6 Release Date & Platforms

Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The game was initially scheduled for 2025, aiming to hit the autumn release window, but was postponed to the next year, first slated for May 26 and then finally moved to the currently defined November 2026 release window.

The final date was even confirmed by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick – in a TikTok interview with blogger The School of Hard Knocks.

GTA 6 Price

The Standard Edition costs $79.99, and the Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99. The latter includes some cool bonuses, like premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and "action around every corner." This pack includes cool Vice City looks, hairstyles, and tattoos for the protagonists.  

When Will It Come to PC?

Like previous Grand Theft Auto games, the new entry will launch on consoles first, and the PC version will likely arrive much later. Rockstar Games hasn't announced a release date for it. For example, GTA 5 came out on consoles in September 2013 and reached PC on April 14, 2015.

GTA 6 Multiplayer

Rockstar has never officially confirmed a multiplayer mode. However, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy recently mentioned that GTA 6's multiplayer will launch next year, in 2027.

Will There Be a Physical Disc?

Pre-orders didn't offer a physical edition, leaving fans with a digital code or a code in a box. Rumors suggest the game may receive a physical disc later; however, there's no confirmation or reliable evidence. 

GTA 6 Trailers, Screenshots & Art

There are now two official trailers, and though a new one was rumored ahead of pre-orders, the suggestions proved false.

The first trailer, revealed several hours earlier due to a leak, came out back in December 23, and offered a first look at Vice City, Leonida, the series' version of Miami, Florida, and the game's protagonists: Jason and Lucia.

Gameplay

In August 2026, Rockstar finally unveiled gameplay of its open-world adventure in a 26-minute video, offering a closer look at the characters Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos and their relationship, the game's third-person combat, driving, exploration, character interaction, and open-world activities.

Grand Theft Auto VI will reportedly combine the freedom and explosive chaos of GTA 5 with the grounded world simulation, physical character systems, and emotional depth of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Jason and Lucia's romantic relationship is at the center of the story, and the couple argues over decisions, jokes in the car, prepares for a night out, and discusses whether they can trust one another. The gameplay showcase portrays Vice City in great detail, with crowded streets and diverse urban scenes and locations, with traffic, animals, police activity, businesses, and ambient events, alongside a lifelike day and night cycle. GTA 6 will reportedly feature rich wildlife with over 170 animal species, including flamingos, pelicans, alligators, and even monkeys. Social media also plays an important role in gameplay, serving as a background satire.

Overall, Grand Theft Auto 6 is reportedly set to pair GTA 5's chaotic freedom with Red Dead Redemption 2's detailed world simulation, lifelike character systems, and emotional storytelling.

GTA 6 Mods

As for modding, ahead of the release, Rockstar rolled out strict rules defining what modders can and cannot do with their games, prohibiting modifying or expanding official storylines, plots, missions, characters, and other content; combining maps, locations, characters, storylines, in-game assets, or other IPs. Unofficial multiplayer is also not allowed, as well as chance-based mechanics involving real money.

GTA 6 Sales & Reception Anticipations

GTA 6 won the Most Anticipated Game award at TGA 2025. The release is surrounded by rumors and even malware attacks, with scam campaigns targeting Android and PC users by disguising malware as a fake beta version or installer. Analysts suggest the long-awaited follow-up to GTA 5 might sell over 25 million copies on launch day and earn $7.6 billion in the first two months.
