Silent Hill F-Inspired Obstacle Avoidance System With A Weapon
Learn how to make your own with LocoDev's tutorial.
Inspired by Silent Hill f and its naginata-based wall-avoidance mechanics, Rain Munoz set himself a personal challenge: to build a system that adds a bit more difficulty than being unarmed.
The foundation of the system is the Unreal Engine 5.7's GASP setup, currently relying on live retargeting. However, he aims to rebuild Mover from the ground up on the hero skeleton, allowing for 1-to-1 animation alignment. Also, in the Spirit of Silent Hill f, the next step is to get a schoolgirl model and "really change the reactions to someone not quite honed on how to maneuver themselves with this weapon".
"The base is utilizing the logic from LocoDev's YouTube video and then customizing and building off that foundation. I was able to develop this version that is able to be used when jogging and sprinting, while also developing a version for a naginata that required specific needs. Utilizing spear traces, different sets of blendspaces, and input logic from different kinds of incoming obstacles and distances!"
