Solo Developer Recreates Diablo 2 As First-Person Game In UE5
More like Diablo 2: Skyrim.
Solo Game Developer Mark, also known as I Make Games, has recently gone viral online for his ambitious project: a first-person Diablo 2 remake built in Unreal Engine. In the video above, you can see the Fireball and Teleport spells in action, along with a preview of two movement mechanics: sliding and climbing. The VFX will be improved later, as the developer is currently focusing on building the systems first.
Below is another demo of the project, where Mark showcased a HUD implementation with a working XP bar, skill slots, potions, and a stamina bar. He mentioned that updates will continue to be posted as the project progresses, and that some of the backend code will also be shared for those interested in the technical side:
It's worth noting that the current character meshes are generated using AI. Mark just shared a devlog updating on the direction of the project and discussing the dismemberment system, teleporting through walls, third-person mode, and improvements to the Whirlwind and Lightning systems.
