Hiroshi Kanazawa continues to refine his Geometry Nodes-powered explosion generator.
Back in November, 3D Effects Artist Hiroshi Kanazawa blew our minds by showcasing the updated version of his anime-style 3D explosion generator, which then got the ability to create and customize animated explosions. A month later, the artist continues to refine the Blender-made setup, presenting an impressive new functionality recently added to the generator.
Adding to the realism, the new version of the Geometry Nodes-powered generator is now able to automatically create a crater at the epicenter of the explosion, making the blast's impact feel more imposing. According to the author, the effect was particularly inspired by the explosion from the Akira manga series.
