Tachyon Flow Parkour Game Just Got Even Smoother
Welcome back, Mirror's Edge.
Regulars here or Unity subreddit followers know the deal: this project has been turning heads since early this year. If you haven't seen it yet, Tachyon Flow by JankyAnims is a third-person parkour runner where you take control of Kaia, running, jumping, and traversing every course with complete freedom.
The developer recently shared a new update that takes the game to the next level. Movement has been overhauled, switching from a generic run/sprint system to a momentum-based mechanic. Funny enough, Reddit users asked JankyAnims if the game has any bugs, given how flawless it looks, and the developer admitted that sometimes they spend hours on some tiny but very noticeable issues.
Right now, there's no system that automatically performs moves if you miss a transition or don't have the right speed, the developer wanted movement to feel skill-based. "You have to press Space to roll right before you hit the ground, or you get stuck in a small landing pose. Have to press Ctrl midair to tuck over obstacles in time/on the ground to slide under things, or you get held up", explained JankyAnims.
