On Monday, game development studio CD Projekt published a new regulatory announcement stating that Project Sirius, a new Witcher game currently being developed by The Molasses Flood, had undergone an "evaluation" regarding its original concept and "scope and commercial potential."

Based on the results of this evaluation, CD Projekt decided to take an "impairment allowance" of nearly $10 million. In a regulatory filing, CD Projekt Red disclosed that the expenses incurred from this impairment allowance totaled 33.4 million PLN ($7.6 million USD) for 2022, and 9.5 million PLN ($2.2 million USD) for January and February 2023, adding up to 42.9 million PLN, or $9.7 million USD.

Additionally, the company declared that they are working on formulating a new framework for Project Sirius, hinting at the possibility that the entire game has been scrapped and is now being reworked.
