"The iconic classic is back, better than ever, and made to last forever."
A few days ago, news of a PEGI rating for the PC version of the original Resident Evil led to speculation that the game could be making its way back to PC. Now, GOG has officially confirmed that the original 1996 Resident Evil, which was ported to PC in 1997, is indeed coming to its platform. This means that PC players can now experience the game that set the standard for the survival horror genre.
The game, priced at $9.99, is promised to be "uncut" and "compatible with modern machines." What's even more exciting is that it has also been announced that Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are set to be available soon. A Resident Evil Bundle, which includes all three games, is available for purchase at $24.99. Buyers will receive Resident Evil 1 immediately, with 2 & 3 being added to their library as soon as they are released, which is expected to happen within 2024.
The GOG version promises to keep all the original content intact and assures full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. In addition to these, it also features several improvements such as an improved DirectX game renderer, new rendering options (including Windowed Mode, Vertical Synchronization Control, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, and more), and enhanced timing of the cutscenes.
