Chen Jiangtao has recently shared his stunning 3D work called Disproportionate marriage.
The piece is based on a painting by Vasili Pukirev (The Unequal Marriage, 1862). The artist wrote that this is his first work which makes the whole thing kind of amazing, right?
All the models here were made with ZBrush, textures painted with Mari and Substance Painter and rendered with Arnold in Maya. The artist thanked his teacher Yang Guang who helped him master 3D and taught his art fundamentals.
The Unequal Marriage, 1862
The original piece was dedicated to the topic of the power of money and the author’s attitude to it which you can see by examining the figure of the young man standing behind the bride. It was considered that the work is autobiographical and the young man’s image is the artist’s self-portrait.
You can learn more about the 3D piece on ArtStation.
