The Witcher 3's New Songs Of The Past DLC Brings More Gwent

Well, there go another 50 hours of our lives.

You could say the open-world Gwent game is getting some extra Witcher content with this expansion. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been winning people over since 2015 with its characters, world, and story, but Gwent was another huge part of its appeal. It's not every day you see an RPG add a card game so good that it ends up getting its own standalone title.

This year's gamescom is just around the corner, and honestly, very little is known about what to expect. One thing we can count on, though, is some Witcher news, particularly with Songs of the Past, the upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3.

It's reportedly being made on a similar scale to 2016's Blood and Wine, so players can expect plenty of content, and it makes sense that Gwent is coming back too. Still, that hasn't stopped fans from getting excited about the confirmation from CD Projekt Red's Community & Social Media Manager Marcin Łukaszewski:

CD Projekt Red is co-developing Songs of the Past with Fool's Theory, a studio made up of industry veterans who previously worked on The Witcher 3. You'll once again step into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia when the expansion launches in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

If you're waiting for The Witcher 4, you'll have to be patient: the game isn't expected until 2028. The developers have been dropping a few details about it, including the influence of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Baldur's Gate 3.
