The third expansion to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled Songs of the Past, will be released next year, as announced by developer CD PROJEKT RED. The expansion will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The studio has been co-developing Songs of the Past with Fool’s Theory, whose team includes industry veterans who worked on the third entry of the franchise.
The expansion promises a brand new adventure of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia, and now, there are no details disclosed. CD PROJEKT RED shares that more specifics will be revealed in late summer 2026.
Released in 2015, The Witcher 3 has sold over 60 million copies and won more than 250 Game of the Year and 1,000 industry awards. The game is fairly considered one of the best RPGs ever made, and even The Witcher 4 narrative director, Philipp Weber, had concerns about how to top the success of The Witcher 3.
The Witcher 4 is now in the full-scale production phase, but will not launch in 2026, CD Projekt Red has confirmed. The developers shared some insights into its creation, for example, that the title is influenced by Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3.
