This Cyberpunk Gun Fu Game Gets a Confirmed Release Window

The John Wick-style action-adventure arrives next year.

SPINE – This Is Gun Fu, a cyberpunk action-adventure developed by Nekki, featuring cinematic John Wick-style combat, has a confirmed release window. The game will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series in summer 2027.

In this single-player cinematic action game, you play as a rebellious street artist, Redline, who, with her sentient combat implant, Spine, tries to defy the autocratic AI regime in search of her captured brother. The game is set in Tensor City, a technocratic megacity built by an AI for humanity to survive the ecological collapse of the world outside, where social rating defines all your life, dividing the city into two contrasting parts.

During the Future Games Show, the developer also unveiled a new trailer, showing the first look at Judge, Tensor City's supreme leader, and Tensor's Children, equipped with Spines of their own. The trailer also highlights SPINE's directional attacks, parry and dodge system, environmental attacks, and some of the bosses and environments.

SPINE is designed to feel like a playable cyberpunk action movie, using a special combat camera staying close to the protagonist during fights. Combat is built around a Freeflow Combat system, where every action flows seamlessly into the next one, as players can dodge attacks, disarm enemies, and turn their weapons against them. It also encourages improvisation, letting players pick up enemy weapons and use their surroundings.

A live-action feature film adaptation, in collaboration with Story Kitchen, the studio founded by the co-producer of the Sonic film, Dmitri Johnson, and the John Wick writer, Derek Kolstad, was previously announced.
