This Might Be The Most Disgustingly Satisfying Fluid Simulation You See Today

ResponsibleBoss6640 shared their awesome Houdini simulation that's both mesmerizing and gross.

ResponsibleBoss6640 shared their disgusting, yet hypnotizing Houdini fluid simulation. In the simulation, a rusty anchor is dragged through a thick, foamy brownish-orange liquid by its chain. The liquid looks like something you'd find in the depths of your local sewage, although some users agreed it resembled creamy coconut-chilli sauce.

The scene looks disturbing on its own, but with the jittery, laggy camera effect, it looks like a shot straight out of a Megan Is Missing-style horror movie. This horizontal pixelated noise effect was created with a fairly simple trick: the artist explained that it's just "a Distortion filter in the Edit."

ResponsibleBoss6640 made the rusty, foamy mud using Houdini's MPM solver, which is the go-to particle solver for thicker materials. Using this same solver, the artist created the water puddles, since MPM works best for scenes where you have different materials interacting with each other, just like in this simulation.

The rusty chain was made with Houdini's RBD, the solver that is perfect for simulating the motion of hard, solid objects.

Aside from gross fluid effects, ResponsibleBoss6640 makes some really pretty simulations with Houdini, which you can find on Reddit.

We have more borderline gross simulations like this from other artists that you can check out: see this fabric simulation by Ruye, this slimy simulation by MaxMilez, this cobweb simulation by Mohamed Fayed, and this jiggly leg muscle simulation by Atsushi Yasuoka.
