Watch This Creepy Fabric Rip Apart & Stitch Itself Back Together

Ruye's latest project is almost in the "Thanks, I hate it" category, but you have to admit, the execution is seriously impressive. Watch closely: the fabric actually tears apart and then stitches itself back together, no rewind.
The artist used Houdini's Vellum system, and the little arcs as the fabric stitches itself back together are a nice touch: according to Ruye, it's their favorite part, and they re-simmed it over and over to get those final strands and the delay just right. Here's a behind-the-scenes look that makes the whole thing look even more like a strange creature:
