In the age of generative AI, it's refreshing to see a team putting so much care into hand-drawn animation and showing the process behind it. Bugle Duck's Moylo is an action game with melee combat and intense boss battles, and every character, enemy, and environment is animated frame by frame in a classic rubber-hose cartoon style inspired by the 1930s and 1940s animation.
Cuphead and Hollow Knight are among Moylo's inspirations, though the final result has its own style. In response to the overwhelming praise for the game's visuals, the team also plans to include some sections in a "sketchy mode," letting players see the original hand-drawn animations in their raw form, without the colors or cleaned-up linework.
