This Tiny PlayStation 5 Makes Slim Look Huge

Sony didn't live up to Not From Concentrate's expectations.

When Sony, after many rumors here and there, finally revealed the PlayStation 5 Slim, a lot of players were happy it would take less space. However, YouTube creator Not From Concentrate (NFC) didn't share the sentiment. Sony "didn't live up to [their] expectations," so the best decision there was to make their own version of the console and make it even slimmer. And NFC did it: this "tiny" PlayStation 5 is probably what you'd pick over Sony's if you were short of space in your room.

PS5 Slim is 30% smaller and 18% lighter than the standard PlayStation 5. NFC's version received over 60% reduction in size; it has a detachable vertical stand with a built-in controller charging dock and an external disc drive. The engineer reused some stock parts to make it look similar to the original and 3D-printed more than 20 custom details.

NFC also paid special attention to the cooling system by changing the "huge" fan Sony installed to a smaller version and switching some parts to make it fit and not make too much noise. In addition, the creator changed the power supply, the SSD, and the vertical stand.

A more important change perhaps is the disc drive. NFC used an external one to make sure their PS5 is as tiny as possible; it can be unplugged when you don't need it.

When tested, both consoles operated below 60°C, and NFC's PlayStation could definitely compete with the original, although it heated up a little more.
