What else would you like to see in the game?
The team behind Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis continued their mini-doc series on the game's development, sharing what they kept and what they changed from the older title.
This time, in episode 6, they talked about the reimagination of the combat and progression, discussing how important it was for them to achieve a combat and use of weapons that could feel right, especially with the dual pistols, to bring back that Lara feeling.
Dmytro Andriuschenko, Senior Combat Designer, said they wanted to mix acrobatics, slow motion, and akimbo shooting. Marcin Steliga, Senior System Designer, explained that the game has four weapons, each focused on a different play style and range.
Mateusz Niziołek, Game Designer, also talked about how the combat and attacks are designed to be anticipated, so players can learn enemies' patterns and react accordingly over time.
The Design Director, Jason Epps, mentioned that when he played the Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy, he felt more engaged when he could increase Lara's power. Therefore, for the remake, they brought back the ability to collect herbs and mix them with food to reduce damage or help with healing.
We also shared episode 4 of the mini-doc series, where they talked about how they achieved the iconic style of Lara Croft, like her acrobatics, how far she jumps, or how she climbs.
In episode 5, they discussed their approach to the game's puzzles and traps.
