The series of videos will show you how to rig and animate characters in Houdini using KineFX.
SideFX released a video series demonstrating how to combine keyframe animation with ragdoll simulation and secondary motion on a character in Houdini using KineFX – a rigging and animation framework and toolset that allows you to create and edit characters at the geometry level.
The tutorial series uses an elephant rig to show how to set up a procedural rig to build on top of an existing animation along with technical animation. It demonstrates the process of going from the typical quadruped keyframe animation cycle, rig layers, changing the quadruped walk cycle into a biped one, using motion clips to blend clips together, and adding keyframes on top.
Then, you will learn how to configure the skeleton for the ragdoll, set up secondary motion for the elephant's ears, trunk, and tail, and finally, combine the elephant animation, ragdoll simulation, and secondary motion.
You will also get .hip and .hda files with the elephant rig, animation, and ragdoll setup.
