"Nothing default about this cube."
The infamous default cube in Blender has been through a lot: it has been turned into an old man, reimagined as water, shattered, and even given as a cake as a birthday present. But I don't think I've seen a cube as beautiful as the one created by Rui Huang.
The artist presented a whole Type 5 civilization in the shape and animated it to create something cosmic and magical.
A Type 5 civilization is a "hypothetically ranked civilization on the Kardashev scale which has an energy consumption of 1056 watts or can otherwise use energy from some vast number of universes," according to the Beyond Universe Wiki. It's basically an immortal, impossibly advanced civilization.
Seeing it imagined in Blender is a great experience, especially done so well with Eevee.
Huang is a sci-fi artist, and you can see their thruster VFX, Volumetric Planet VFX pack, and grand space station on X/Twitter or Instagram.
