And people don't seem to be very happy with how it looks.

More from gamescom 2026
gamescom has begun, already bringing us a few reveals, including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster (free for existing owners!). Among the surprises is the Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake, reimagining the iconic strategy classic for modern audiences. Ubisoft is leading development, ditching the fixed 2D isometric view for a detailed 3D world with free camera control, all built from the ground up in the Snowdrop engine.
Visual upgrades include 4K visuals, dynamic lighting, real-time weather effects, and changing seasons. You can also expect a "new introductory prologue campaign", a number of "new fully produced cinematics," and a "revamped online mode".
"A modern reimagining of the beloved classic, the game will offer hours of adventure, bringing the original's timeless gameplay up to modern standards while delivering its iconic blend of turn-based strategy, RPG hero progression, and tactical grid combat.
Building on that foundation, the remake will introduce a range of quality-of-life improvements and new features, such as enhanced planning and decision-making tools, making for a more intuitive experience while staying faithful to the original."
A new gameplay showcase has also just been released:
This is a game that holds a very special place in the hearts of many people, so the remake was probably always going to be under a lot of scrutiny. Add in the current climate of the industry and Ubisoft's reputation, and it's perhaps not too surprising that the reaction has been mixed. Looking through the comments under the reveal videos, there's already plenty of criticism aimed at the visuals, with people saying they look like "generic AI slop", "plastic", "F2P mobile game", "Disney", and so on.
Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake is set to launch in 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. What do you think of the new graphics? What would your ideal HoMM3 remaster look like?
