Ubisoft Says No Assassin's Creed Remakes Are Planned

Assassin's Creed Valhalla will receive a New Game+ mode in an upcoming update.

Ubisoft

Assassin's Creed is not getting new remakes in the near future; the Hexe and Invictus projects are in development, and AC Valhalla is getting a New Game+ mode in an upcoming update in less than a week.

Ubisoft has published a detailed blog post outlining its plans for the franchise. The series' new leadership has shared its guiding principle: "staying true to what makes Assassin's Creed unique, continuing to innovate, delivering diverse experiences, and elevating the quality and consistency of our games."

The company clearly stated that it has no AC remakes actively in development following Black Flag Resynced. The team's focus is on the next chapter of the series' titles, including projects that haven't been announced yet. However, the company doesn't rule out more remakes in the future: "But don't mistake that for a closed door. Like many of you, we love the idea of revisiting our classic titles, and we'll keep exploring opportunities to bring older titles back."

Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the 2020 title that recently surpassed 40 million players, will receive an update that adds New Game+. It will be available on November 5. The mode lets players start fresh while carrying over much of their progression, with dedicated NG+ scaling. It also adds runes, achievements, a stash system, and rewards such as a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe's look in AC Shadows. There is also an optional progression mode in which Gear, Runes, and Masteries all contribute to Eivor's overall Power.

Ubisoft stated it is still working on a "darker" Assassin's Creed experience codenamed Hexe, with a major update planned for 2027. The multiplayer project known as Invictus is also in the works. According to the developers, feedback on the return of PvP multiplayer was very positive, and Insiders highlighted the maps' parkour and verticality, team-based gameplay, and the option to play as various AC characters.
