Using Id Tech 7: Doom Eternal Analysis

Learn how the use of id Tech 7 evolved the quality of Doom Eternal.

John Linneman, the staff writer at Digital Foundry, took a deep look into the long-awaited Doom Eternal, shared his gameplay experience and discussed how the use of Id Tech 7 has empowered the technical and visual features of the game.

To achieve this, the team has made a few major arrangements in the game and backend tools development: switching to the low-level Vulkan graphics API, finding a high-performance image streaming solution to move away from megatextures technology, the new LOD system, to name a few.
