Its first patch, which introduces mostly-desired features, will arrive very soon.
Saber Interactive’s highly-anticipated third-person shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 finally launched on September 9. The game has already attracted two million players to join the battle against the Tyranid swarms, as announced by publisher Focus Entertainment.
Meanwhile, it has made itself “the fastest selling game” that Todd Hollenshead, Head of Publishing at Saber Interactive, and CCO Tim Willits have ever worked on. Both of them have previously been high-level positions at id Software and are referring to titles such as “Quake, DOOM, Wolfenstein, and RAGE games.”
This gives us a sneak peek at how popular Space Marine 2 has been. Back in August, it ranked second on the chart of most wishlisted games on Steam, following Hollow Knight: Silksong. During the paid early access period, which ended last week, it hit 134k concurrent players, which broke publisher Focus Entertainment’s record. With its global launch, the record was significantly surpassed, with over 225,000 concurrent players on Steam at the time of writing this article.

Although Space Marine 2 has received favorable reviews from players and critics, some players dislike it for reasons such as the lack of ultrawide support or private PVE lobbies. Luckily, those features will soon be introduced to the game with the very first patch, says Focus in a community post on Steam.
