Santiago Giraldo Gallego explained how the scene was made.
A new water simulation was presented by VFX artist Santiago Giraldo Gallego, and you will want to see this one.
As it usually is, the fluid was set up in Houdini, with a spaceship gliding through its dirty water.
The artist reviewed the geometries, cleaned them up, and converted them into VDBs to be used in the simulations as colliders.
"Then I created a simple animation of the spaceship rotating a bit so that one wing would touch the water, I created several spheres around the environment and inside several pipes so that they would emit water uniformly to fill the pond, this was creating a simulation of a flat tank with a defined bounding box in this case the size of the pond."
After came smoke simulations, which affected the behavior of the water, and a whitewater sim. "I wanted the render to look like dirty water because I thought it would look cool in the render."
