You Can Now Play PC Fan Ports of All Three Jak & Daxter Games

Jak 3 is still in a beta version, but the first two games are already fully playable.

After so many years, the Jak and Daxter trilogy is finally playable on PC. And even though it seemed like an April Fool's joke, it was a real announcement from the OpenGOAL team.

OpenGOAL is a community-driven project that started in 2020, and its purpose has been to adapt the Jak and Daxter games for native PC play. Now the whole trilogy is available: the first two installments are completely playable, and the third is limited to 60 FPS for now and might have some bugs. Nonetheless, we don't doubt that all of these things will be fixed.

The Jak & Daxter series, created by Naughty Dog, debuted in 2001 on the PlayStation 2 with Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. It was a major technical and design milestone at the time, offering a seamless open-world design with no loading screens, something relatively rare for console games at the time.

The series combined tight platforming, light combat, and environmental storytelling with a colorful, expressive art style, helping define the PS2 era alongside other flagship titles.

To be able to play the games on your PC, you will, of course, need to provide the data from your own legally acquired game discs, which OpenGOAL can use to create the PC versions with the ISO files.

You can check out this Jak and Daxter remaster animation that never happened below as well, for some more retro goodness.
