According to recent reports, Google continues its organizational changes, meaning that there will be more people departing from the tech giant. A few days ago, we reported that Google let go of hundreds of people from different divisions.
The restructuring wave also affected YouTube. The company is reportedly laying off 100 employees, which is approximately 1.4% of YouTube's whole workforce.
"As the business evolves, we have an even greater need to ensure we're running the business effectively and meeting the needs of all of our users," Mary Ellen Coe, Chief Business Officer at YouTube stated in the memo. "We've made the decision to eliminate some roles and say goodbye to some of our teammates."
The affected employees will have an opportunity to join other teams and take on a different position within the company. The New York Times reported that employees have 60 days to secure new positions before their terminations become official. However, it's not guaranteed that they'll get the job.
"We're continuing to support any impacted employees as they look for new roles here at Google and beyond," stated Google's representative.
