Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
While we wait for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, arriving next spring, now could be the perfect time to catch up on the second entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. Picking up shortly after Cloud Strife and his friends escape Midgar, the game follows them as they set out to track down the legendary Sephiroth.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
If, for some reason, you still haven't picked up Skyrim after all these years and countless editions, well, this is your sign. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition brings the epic fantasy world to life with upgraded graphics and includes both the base game and its add-ons.
Control
Everyone is playing Control Resonant right now, but if you're not familiar with Remedy's 2019 hit Control, now is the perfect time to catch up and experience its unique visuals, telekinetic combat, and masterful use of modern technology. The Ultimate Edition includes the base game and both major expansions.
Resident Evil 2
What better time to play horror games than October? And what better choice than the genre-defining classic Resident Evil 2, rebuilt from scratch for a terrifying modern experience? Resident Evil Code: Veronica is expected to launch next year, so if you've been meaning to catch up on Capcom's modern remake lineup, this is an excellent place to start.
Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red's open-world action RPG is celebrating its sixth anniversary this December, and the franchise shows no signs of slowing down, with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 on the way. Welcome to Night City, a dangerous megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour, and endless body modification.
Monster Hunter Rise
If you've never played the series, Monster Hunter Rise is a great place to start. You'll hunt massive monsters, gather materials, and craft better weapons and armor in the feudal Japanese-inspired Kamura Village. If you played the game on Switch, the PC version adds better visuals, voice chat, Steam Overlay support, and more, so it doesn't feel like a simple port.
Hades
Hades broke out of the indie bubble and redefined the roguelike genre with its distinctive visuals, addictive combat, and modern take on Greek mythology. If you missed its dysfunctional divine family drama the first time around, now is the perfect time to dive in.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
If you haven't played this one yet, it's absolutely worth your time. Ori and the Will of the Wisps improves on its predecessor in almost every way, making it a more emotional and polished Metroidvania experience. Gorgeous visuals, memorable music, and beautifully detailed environments show how much care went into every part of the game.
Sid Meier's Civilization V
This game is ten years old now, what a scary thought, and it's still hugely popular. Why? Because it's epic and intense, and it lets you dive into history, build your own empire, and create a different story every time you play. Curious to see what all the hype is about?
Mirror's Edge Catalyst
This isn't a sequel or prequel to the 2008 original, Catalyst is essentially a remake and a pretty unique experience that combines fun gameplay with art in a surreal world. Running releases endorphins that make you feel good, and you'll understand exactly what that means once you play.
