3D Artist Unveils a UE5 Environment Made Entirely Out of High-Poly Assets

The scene consists of hundreds of millions of triangles and supports NVIDIA's DLSS.

Yan Ru, a renowned Environment/Lighting Artist who specializes primarily in setting up highly-detailed 3D scenes in Unreal Engine, continues to experiment with real-time rendering by showcasing Palais Garnier, a majestic game environment and a thorough 3D recreation of the world's most famous opera house's Grand Staircase, created to explore the possibilities of creating game environments.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the scene is made up entirely of high-poly models created by 3D Artist GoldSmooth. As noted by the creator, most of these models consist of millions of triangles, while some exceed tens of millions. The entire environment consists of hundreds of millions of triangles. Additionally, the creator utilized 3ds Max and Megascans to set up the scene.

Moreover, the Palais Garnier environment features full dynamic lighting and projection. You can observe the lighting and shadows change in real-time through the changing sunlight, the mirror ball shot from a gun, and the lamp knocked down in the videos embedded above. On top of that, the scene supports NVIDIA's DLSS tech, allowing Yan to run it at 160-210 FPS on an RTX 4090 GPU.
