Have a look at a bridge for UV editing within two programs: 3DSMax and RizomUV. You can get a free version or a paid one with more features.

How it works
In 3DS Max:
- Select object or multiple objects
- Select editing mode
- Press button with the RizomUV logo
In RizomUV:
- Create or edit UVs
- Press Save
After saving in RizomUV, 3DSMax window will reappear and UVs will be assigned like modifiers on object or objects.
How to edit a preset file:
- In RizomUV open Script and Command log window (default shortcut is “L”)
- Select necessary lines and copy/paste them into the preset file
