NexusMods user merigoldmaribor discovered additional content featuring a short conversation and animation. It reveals what happened after Ciri took over the sword from Geralt. Warning: spoilers ahead. The following clip shows that they walked out of the inn and headed for Ellander where Yen was waiting. The video below provides the restored content and you can skip to the 1-minute 30-second mark to check it out.
Some suspect that this hidden ending could be related to what's going to happen in The Witcher 4, codenamed Polaris, which will soon enter the "full-fledged production phase" and is considered to be the "most advanced" game CDPR has ever worked on. Others argue that it wouldn’t be the case because, according to Doug Cockle, the voice actor for Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher series, Geralt won’t be the focus of the next game, though he is surely part of it; instead, the protagonist will be Ciri.
