A Realistic 3D Portrait of Pedro Pascal's Joel

Şefki Ibrahim has turned Vimal Kerketta's detailed Joel sculpt into a fully-fledged digital double of the character.

3D Character Artist Şefki Ibrahim, widely known for creating digital doubles of real people and lifelike eye animations, has unveiled a highly-realistic 3D portrait of The Last of Us' main character Joel Miller based on the likeness of Pedro Pascal, who portrayed the character HBO's TV adaptation of the game.

Made in collaboration with Vimal Kerketta, whose detailed ZBrush-made 3D sculpt of Joel was used as the basis, the portrait was set up using an assortment of software, including Maya, Arnold, XGen, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Nuke, and Unreal Engine 5.

And here are some of the WiP shots shared by Şefki:

Additionally, the creator has shared a comprehensive hour-long timelapse video, showcasing the grooming workflow in XGen. You can check out the full video attached below or by visiting Şefki's YouTube page:
