This swirl of trapped souls is not a hallucination, it's a new material created by Mingwei "CMZW" Lim. Moreover, you might recognize the image from Dandadan's character Evil Eye, who inspired the artist.

The material was made in Material Maker, and you can do it too, as CMZW shared the nodes used in the project.
