"And to set expectations, it will be even longer before this kind of thing happens in the next cycle with Borderlands 4."
Gearbox
It's only been a month since Borderlands 4's release, and the Epic Games Store is already offering discounts on it, among other games in the series.
Such a quick surrender of the full price usually means the sales are not that good, which would not be surprising, considering how it launched to Mostly Negative reviews on Steam.
This is quite ironic, since Gearbox's CEO Randy Pitchford was so sure we'd have to wait forever for sales to touch B4.
"Sales like this and Borderlands 3 showing up on console subscription programs took over 5 years from the game’s launch to happen. Take advantage when it’s here! And to set expectations, it will be even longer before this kind of thing happens in the next cycle with Borderlands 4."
Then again, perhaps he meant the 95% discount, not the 20% we can see on Borderlands 4.
In any case, it doesn't look like players agree with Pitchford that the game should cost $200 (or maybe even the $70 it actually costs). Well, he is infamous for his controversial statements, so I'd take everything he says with a grain of salt. However much we want, it's business at the end of the day.
