Check Out This Atmospheric UE5 Forest Scene Reminiscent of The Shire

A new fairytale environment by Helena Hansen.

Take a moment to admire this peaceful natural environment created by Environment Artist Helena Hansen using ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Substance 3D Designer, Unreal Engine 5, Marvelous Designer, and Maya.

Reminiscent of the Shire from J.R.R. Tolkien's novels, the vibrant setup immediately captivates the attention with its fresh, atmospheric vibes and lively yet blissful mood. The artist masterfully created a delightful atmosphere, visualizing a wooden house and a bridge, diverse vegetation, translucent water, and an appealing play of light and shadows cast by forest trees.

Helena Hansen used both Quixel Megascans and custom-made assets. The former include flowers, sunflowers, a bench, pots, a watering can, a tree bark, and an apple basket, while the custom-made elements comprise trees, water, landscape materials, a house, a table and tablecloth, a bridge, grass, and moss, along with the textures on those assets. To craft the environment, the creator didn't use any concept images.

Before, Helena Hansen showcased another fairytale-style environment:

Also, the artist shared a detailed breakdown explaining the techniques for creating a realistic skin shader in Unreal Engine 5.
