Self-taught 3D Environment Artist Antonin Pardon, who started as a Core Games contributor, shared his most recent stylized environment piece, Red Sand Desert. The scene is based on concept art by Natalia Sidorova.
To create the assets for the scene, the artist used Blender. With Substance 3D Painter, Pardon textured the objects in the environment. He picked the sand and dirt textures from 3dExtrude for the terrain. Pardon then took everything to Unreal Engine to assemble the final scene and set up the lighting using MeshBlend by Tore Lervik and Stylized Dynamic Sky & Weather System by So Stylized.

To make the scene more atmospheric, the artist used Birds – Distant Seagulls and Crows Circling (Low Poly) from Tav in the background. Because Pardon gravitates toward a heavy use of foliage in his environments, with this piece he challenged himself to create a scene without vegetation to practice sculpting sharp objects instead.
Without foliage and with enormous rocks disappearing into the foggy night sky, the scene turned out chillingly monumental.
