Check Out This Surreal 3D Face Wall Inspired by Manga

Inspired by manga artist Tsutomu Nihei, the Blender scene's complex array setup nearly crashed the artist's PC.

Have a look at this surreal and creepy 3D render created using Blender by a Graphic Designer known as Round3d.pixel.

"This almost made my PC crash," the artist wrote, referring to the technical weight of the scene. According to the creator, the setup involves a duplicated array modifier using instances, likely contributing to the heavy computational load.

The inspiration was drawn from the artwork of manga artist Tsutomu Nihei, known for Blame!, Knights of Sidonia, Biomega, and Tower Dungeon.

Previously, Round3d.pixel already experimented with a manga-inspired style and shared a black-and-white 3D render. The sketch-like aesthetic was achieved with Grease Pencil mixed with the Kuwahara filter. Check out:

The artist also used the Kuwahara filter to create a watercolor-style effect in these inspiring works – a scene set in an airport and a water scene:

As for the manga-style 3D art, have a look at this amazing take on Azami Kurotani from Junji Ito's manga series Uzumaki, created by Artist SploogeMaster2301 using Blender, and a stunning recreation of Junji Ito's character Tomie from the eponymous manga, crafted by Claudia Aylas:

This entire page from Gachiakuta, a manga by Kei Urana, is not a flat render but a detailed 3D recreation made by Adrian Horodyski, Paulo Soares, and Sara Kołodziejak:
