On average, at least one copy of the game is sold every second.
After already becoming the strongest contender for Game of the Year 2025, the highest-rated video game of all time on Metacritic, and a favorite among gamers, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now reached another milestone, one that might give those dabbling in numerology a headache.
According to the Sandfall Interactive team's official announcement, Expedition 33 has sold 3.3 million copies in 33 days since its launch, a remarkable result that means, on average, at least one copy of Clair Obscur is sold every second. "Seriously. As of today. We couldn't make that up," the team writes. "Another entry on the long list of surreal moments that your support has made real. Thank you ALL. Tomorrow comes."
It's also worth pointing out that the figure refers to actual $50 units sold – not artificially inflated "players reached" numbers like those touted by Assassin's Creed Shadows or DOOM: The Dark Ages. Factoring in those who are playing Expedition 33 through subscription services like Xbox Game Pass, the overall number of people who've engaged with the game could easily be over four, maybe even five million – but then again, it wouldn't make the milestone quite as sw33t.
Funnily enough, this isn't the first time the number "3" has appeared in relation to the title. Earlier, Expedition 33 hit its first one million copies sold milestone on the third day after launch. Also, Guillaume Broche, who celebrated his 33rd birthday this month, addressed the sensationalist claims about Clair Obscur being made by "former Ubisoft devs," stating that only three out of Sandfall's 33 employees had previously worked at Ubi.
You can help the game achieve 33 million sales by purchasing Clair Obscur on Steam.
