Tarn Adams, co-creator of the strategy and construction sim Dwarf Fortress, recently shared some words about his life, sharing how his newfound wealth has changed things for him.

In a talk with PC Gamer during gamescom, when asked if he's adjusted to his newfound wealth two years after Dwarf Fortress crossed 800,000 copies sold, Tarn Adams responded: "I guess, a bit, somewhat. I mean, I live in a house now. I have two cats and they love me. That's great," the developer said.

However, Adams shared that he leaned back into the lifestyle he was already used to, rather than adjusting to something new: "I know what [having a house] is like because I grew up in one. It's basically like reattaining what my parents could do with regular jobs. It's not much different from that."

"And I don't want to make light of financial security, right? I mean, yeah, that's great, and I wish it for everybody."

Dwarf Fortress celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and is receiving a major update, Myth and Magic, which expands the universe and features procedural magic systems. The release is planned later this year.

In 2022, the 2006 construction and management sim launched on Steam, selling 160,000 copies in 24 hours and half a million in about a month.
