Creating a Lofoten-Inspired Environment Using RealityCapture & Unreal Engine 5

William Faucher explained how the stunning scene was made from start to finish.

William Faucher has shared a video where he talked about the creation process behind the environment inspired by Lofoten – an archipelago in Norway. While it's different from the tutorials he usually provides, it's great to see how such amazing scenes are made with RealityCapture and Unreal Engine 5.

William talked about the challenges he faced capturing the old fishing cabin and the mistakes he made, explained what conditions are the best for photogrammetry, and showed the process of creating the scans, importing them to Unreal Engine, working on lighting, and rendering.

The artist showcased the scanning workflow and demonstrated how the mountains were created, what plugins were used, and how the shots were color-graded at the end of the project. Faucher provided links to his relevant tutorials if you'd like to learn more about specific aspects of the process.
