Ubisoft continues its restructuring efforts, and its next "victim" is Clint Hocking, the creative director of Assassin's Creed Hexe, an upcoming title that introduces more supernatural and horror gameplay to the familiar franchise.
However, the development will continue without Hocking, Ubisoft announced (via VGC), who spent almost 20 years cumulatively at the company, working on Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Far Cry 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion.
“We sincerely thank [Clint] for his vision, creative contributions, and dedication over the years, and we wish him the very best in his next chapter,” a Ubisoft spokesperson told VGC. “Development on Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe continues with a seasoned team.
“The game will deliver something distinctive within the Assassin’s Creed franchise. We look forward to sharing more information in the future.”
Hocking has been replaced by Jean Guesdon, the new head of content for the Assassin’s Creed series, one of the three new leaders recently assigned by Ubisoft.
At the moment, the studio is developing several AC games, along with two Far Cry experiences.
It's not clear if Hocking left of his own volition or not, but we should probably expect some changes to the AC series. Hopefully, welcome ones.
