Beautiful endless soup by Kevin Ryan.
Senior FX artist Kevin Ryan has presented a project so well done that it will make you either salivate or gag, depending on your food preferences. Meet procedural beans – a delicious texture created with Houdini's Copernicus nodes.
"So years ago, I had a go of Substance Designer to try and get into procedural textures until I promptly got distracted with something or other," Ryan explained his choice of material. "However the latest release of Houdini (20.5) comes with a whole bunch of tools that are akin to Substance Designer, so I decided to have a go of recreating one of my favourite textures from back then...BAKED BEANS!"

He also made a wave "for some nice and gross undulations." If you'd like to take a closer look at the texture, Ryan shared a HIP file on Reddit.
Houdini is capable of powerful things, as you can see. Apart from beans, it can simulate rivers, waterfalls, fibers, oceans, sparkling water, beaches, and more. Our Digests will surely help you master the software:
