Entire Quixel Megascans Library Now Available For Free
And this time, it's permanent.
If this news sounds familiar, you're not experiencing déjà vu. It happened back in 2024, around the launch of Fab, when Quixel also made the Megascans library free for a limited time. This time, though, it appears to be permanent: the entire Megascans library is free starting now.
Megascans is a massive collection of around 23,000 high-quality 3D scanned assets, making it an invaluable resource for both beginner and experienced 3D artists. According to Quixel, Fab listings will continue to be updated through November 12, so don't worry if an asset you're after isn't free just yet.
What's more, the terms for all Quixel assets have also been updated, allowing you to use Megascans and Megaplants assets to train AI models. This move further signals Epic Games' growing focus on AI integration, as we've seen in its plans for Unreal Engine 6 and its new store launcher.
"We're making the full Quixel Megascans library free on Fab. We've also updated the terms for all Quixel assets so you can now train AI models on Megascans and Megaplants. Your AI models can now learn from real-world scans to help you generate varied, photorealistic environments for your projects.
If you purchased Megascans or a Quixel Bundle on or after January 1, 2025, we'll refund your purchase to your Epic Account Balance. You keep your license and get the new AI rights."
To receive a refund for purchases made after January 1, 2025, you'll need to log in to your Epic Games account. Refunds will be credited to your Epic Account Balance by the end of 2026 and can be used across Epic's ecosystem, not just on Fab.
Explore the Megascans library for a huge variety of 3D assets, including architecture, furniture, vehicles, food, creatures, and an extensive range of materials, from damaged surfaces and natural elements to fabrics and much more.
