FromSoftware Might Start Publishing Its Own Games

It is preparing to expand.

FromSoftware

FromSoftware's games, including Elden Ring and Dark Souls, are now published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, but this might change soon.

Kadokawa Corporation, a company that owns FromSoftware, has released a financial report for Q1 which ended on June 30, 2024, where it mentioned the Elden Ring creator progressing in its "preparations to expand its own publishing range."

Noticed by Dr. Serkan Toto, it also states that Kadokawa's net sales from gaming grew 80.2% to 7.8 billion yen ($52.7 million) year-over-year, and operating profit reached 2.4 billion yen ($16.3 million), which is 108.1% higher than last year.

The revenues were strongly affected by Elden Ring's DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, which sold over 5 million units worldwide in the first three days after its release. The report says that only domestic revenue was recorded in Q1, so we will see even greater numbers next quarter.

How do you think FromSoftware publishing its titles will affect them? At least Bandai Namco won't be sued because its games are too hard anymore.
