Take-Two accused them of "gross misconduct."

Rockstar has been busy not only with GTA 6: according to Bloomberg, the studio has fired 30-40 employees, allegedly trying to prevent them from unionizing.
The Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB) says that the workers were part of a private trade union chat group on Discord; some of them were members of the union, while others were trying to organize it at the company.
“Rockstar has just carried out one of the most blatant and ruthless acts of union busting in the history of the games industry,” Alex Marshall, president of the IWGB, said in a statement. “This flagrant contempt for the law and for the lives of the workers who bring in their billions is an insult to their fans and the global industry.”
Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company, however, has another view: in its words, the firings were “for gross misconduct, and for no other reason.” They “fully support Rockstar’s ambitions and approach.”
Rockstar's dislike of unions is understandable: it is said to have a strong crunch culture, which was one of the reasons its employees were worried about when the studio ordered them to come back to the office last year – a move the IWGB criticized it for.
Now, with fewer people on board, Rockstar is working on GTA 6, which should be out on May 26, 2026.
