Haunted Chocolatier Will Be Larger in Scale Than Stardew Valley

Eric Barone also revealed that the new game will be more "creepy."

Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, the creator of the fan-favorite farming sim Stardew Valley, which gained immense popularity, from selling more than 20 million copies to overtaking Portal 2 in Steam's best 250 games last July, is also working on a new project, Haunted Chocolatier. The latter is an RPG and sim, following a story of a chocolatier living in a haunted castle and featuring gathering ingredients, making delicious chocolates, and selling them in a chocolate shop.

In a recent interview, the developer revealed details of his schedule for balancing the two big projects, and it seems to be rather busy. Barone said that he works on Haunted Chocolatier five days a week, and spends the other two on Stardew Valley. The developer also shared that his new game is shaping up to be a larger-scale project than Stardew Valley:

"It's way bigger than Stardew Valley, at least in terms of the amount of maps, the amount of monsters, the depth to the whole item system, and all the equipment slots and all the stuff like this," he said (via Game Informer). "Everything is cranked up."

Barone also shared that Haunted Chocolatier will shift from a lovely and cozy style to something dark and "creepy," with "ghosts, the haunted nature, the castle."

Before, the creator said that Haunted Chocolatier is written from scratch, it's not the same 'engine' as Stardew Valley."

As for Starder Valley, the developer works on a major 1.7 update, which will reportedly feature more character and social content, alongside a new farm type.
