Roger Magrini has showcased a new incredible character model and shared some details on how it was made.
Roger Magrini, a 3D Generalist/Character LookDev Artist who specializes primarily in creating photorealistic digital humans, has showcased a stunning 3D recreation of Mia Gypsy Mello da Silva Goth, an English actress known for her roles in Nymphomaniac, The Survivalist, and Emma.
According to the creator, the portrait was set up using Maya, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Arnold, XGen, and Unreal Engine's MetaHuman Creator, a framework for creating and animating realistic digital humans for UE projects, with Mia's "eyes with limbal arc" being the highlight of the piece.
"The high point for me was these eyes with limbal arc, finally. Thank you, Michael Cauchi, for that help," commented the creator. "Thanks to 3D Scan Store's James Busby for the amazing assets and Şefki Ibrahim for the inspiration for the eye ROM. Also, thanks to Amelia Rowcroft for her amazing likeness course, which gave me a big boost!"
Additionally, the creator utilized MetaHuman Animator, Epic Games' recently-released toolset that enables its user to turn facial motion capture data into high-quality facial animations, to animate the character's face:
