How VALORANT's Hush Was Animated Using Spine 2D & After Effects
Check out Seter MD's work.
Hush is VALORANT's Agent 31, who made her debut in late October. As a Chinese operative, she uses telekinesis to control and manipulate objects around her, and she can even throw enemies around, though that takes a little extra focus. After her release, some of the artists behind Hush started sharing their work, including SuKe, who worked on her key art and also shared a few sketches. Seter MD did the animation, using Spine 2D for the character movements and After Effects for the weapon and background effects.
For the background visuals, the artist apparently combined Fractal Noise, CC Vector Blur, and the Cartoon effect. Watch the breakdown video below to see the whole process, from rigging the character in Spine 2D to bringing the final animation together:

Seter MD has worked on VALORANT before: he did the Act 5 home screen animations featuring Clove, Jett, Phoenix, Omen, and Gekko:
These 3D-like tilts are actually done using simple 2D image warping with Spine 2D. Each animation took Seter MD around 15-30 minutes, and the entire process was done in a single piece of software with all the animation tools in one place.
SeterMD also recreated the endlessly spinning ball from Reverse: 1999, which gives the illusion of a fully 3D object. The original effect was made in Live2D, and you can learn how it works in this article.
