Ilgis Fatykhov showcased a new outstanding piece made with ZBrush, 3ds Max, and Substance 3D Painter.
Inspired by the visual style of the aforementioned director, Ilgis' new masterpiece features a collection of highly-detailed and realistic 3D props that put you into the shoes of a 1990s detective, with models like a police badge, pills, an old-school Nokia phone, and a notebook with a business card tucked inside.
According to the creator, the scene and its props were crafted using ZBrush, 3ds Max, RizomUV, Substance 3D Painter, and Marmoset Toolbag, with the table and fabric assets sourced from Megascans. The artist noted that the project's main goal was to achieve a cinematic level of post-processing and color grading.
"As for texturing, I probably did not pay more attention to this part, so in some places on the assets, it is noticeable," commented Ilgis. "Also, to save time, I used the Nanite workflow, so most of the assets have decimated mesh. For me, this was a good experience in rendering and working with camera animation in Marmoset, as well as working on color grading in Photoshop."
Back in 2022, the artist also joined 80 Level to share the working process behind his Sony PlayStation 2 project and explain how the plastic was covered in dust and dirt to achieve further realism. You can check out the full breakdown by clicking this link.
