Kotaku: GTA 6 Development Is "Falling Behind"

The release might drop to 2026.

GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games of the decade, but while we're looking forward to its launch in 2025, the development of the game is reportedly "falling behind."

According to Kotaku's sources, Rockstar Games is targeting spring 2025 at the moment but the launch might be delayed until the fall of next year or even 2026. The slower-than-expected production makes leadership at the studio worried about the game missing the target window, and this is one of the reasons why Rockstar wants its workers to return to the office.

In case you missed it, last month, the company asked the employees to come back in April for security reasons especially important now that GTA 6 entered the final stages of development. The workers were not happy about it, fearing the return of unhealthy working conditions and crunch.

We don't know for sure when GTA 6 will come, but we know that Rockstar is "seeking perfection" and will release it once the game meets expectations. Fans are waiting for smarter NPCs based on Take-Two's patents, but if you don't have a console, you'll either have to get one or watch others play until the developer releases a PC version, which will most likely take a while.
