Marvel's Genshin Impact Competitor Trailer Allegedly Leaks

Marvel's track record with games has been pretty mixed, but Marvel Rivals has proven there's still a strong audience for its live-service games, potentially opening the door for more. For months, rumors have been circulating about a new Marvel-themed mobile game, codenamed Project Comet.

Over the weekend, a trailer for Project Comet popped up on the Chinese social platform Bilibili before quickly spreading across social media. The leaked footage showcases several familiar Marvel characters you can play as, including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, and Scarlet Witch.

Project Comet is reportedly coming to Android and iOS, and its gameplay seems to follow the same action RPG formula as Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. Earlier this summer, industry insider Miller Ross claimed Project Comet was recruiting beta testers and that Scopely, which acquired Niantic's business, including Pokémon GO, in 2025, was developing it.

There are already a few announced Marvel games, like Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, but we haven't heard much about them lately. So, it wouldn't be too surprising if we see this mysterious Project Comet launch sometime next year.

In case you missed it, we recently spoke with the art team behind Marvel Rivals about their NPR pipeline, hero-specific VFX, and more, using Cyclops as a detailed example:
